How you can help...

So, you're considering becoming a peer supporter and would like to know more about Milk Mentors...

Milk Mentors is a community organisation in Milton Keynes that was set up by J'Nel Metherellto build a network of peer supporters to help parents in our local area who wish to breastfeed. The group is maintained collaboratively by our peer supporters and is run and directed by those within the group who have the ideas and passion to make Milk Mentors what it is, while continuing to uphold the mission and ethos of this amazing community project.

Our Mission is to provide breastfeeding/chestfeeding/expressed milk feeding parents with basic feeding knowledge so that they may be able to offer other parents knowledgeable support and information to reach their breastfeeding/chestfeeding goals. We aim to remain sensitive and respectful of the parent's needs, goals and choices at all times.

If you feel as passionately as we do about upholding this mission and maintaining this fabulous project, then have a read though our course information and what our Milk Mentors project entails. Then find a course date that suits your schedule and book on. We are excited to have you join our team!

If you are interested in offering peer support, but you are not in the Milton Keynes or neighbouring areas, you can look at other national organisations, such as Association of Breastfeeding Mothers, The Breastfeeding Network, NCT, La Leche League. Likewise, J'Nel also offers a peer support training course for professionals that work with mothers in the antenatal, birth and postnatal sector*

*J'Nel Metherell is a local International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a La Leche League Leader (LLL) Breastfeeding Counsellor. She runs her own private practice at breastfeedinghelp.co.uk and can be contacted further at 07521 241922.
